  • ECBC scientists are using state-of-the-art nanotechnology and materials science to improve mask filtration.
  • ECBC has been studying anthrax in varying forms for more than 10 years. Currently, the Center is creating distinctive, non-pathogenic Bacillus thuringiensis simulant strains to monitor how spores respond or persist when released into the environment.
  • In 2011, ECBC celebrated the BSL-3 laboratory’s 10th anniversary. The laboratory allows ECBC to conduct research on some of the most deadly CB warfare agents in the world. This work is imperative to ensuring the safety of our nation and warfighters.
  • ECBC and the University of Delaware have entered into a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) to collaborate on an orthopedic rehabilitation project that will improve rehabilitative care for wounded warriors and civilians.
  • For the first time, the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC) partnered with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Chemical and Biological Technologies Directorate (DTRA CB) in the execution of a joint science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) educational outreach initiative.
  • Looking to help local teachers enhance science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) components in their middle school curriculum, ECBC provided Cecil County Public Schools a package that included DimensionM licenses and a three-day professional development training for 23 of their middle school math teachers.
