ECBC couples basic science with engineering to perform a wide range of sophisticated analysis and testing of unusual materials in diverse mixtures and trace amounts, including chemical and biological warfare agents. The Center houses analytical equipment including self-contained mobile modular laboratories that allow on-site analysis anywhere in the world and a biomanufacturing facility where staff can perform tasks such as in vitro cytotoxicity tests on human and animal cell cultures under Good Laboratory Practices Protocols.

Staffed by a team of dedicated employees specializing in fields as far-reaching as enzymology, immunology and genomic, proteomic, and bioinformatic studies, the Center is positioned to provide cutting-edge support to research and development needs.
